Effective July 1, 2024, at 12:00am EST, the ATCB is ending the current ATR application. 

As of July 1, 2024, 12:00am EST, one must become an ATR-P to become an ATR. This is only for NEW ATR applicants, not current ATR credentials holders. 

The ATCB will allow a grandfathering period for all ATR applications submitted before July 1, 2024, 12:00am EST.
   – If an applicant is collecting hours of supervision and does not carry the ATR-P, an application for the ATR must be submitted BEFORE July 1, 2024, 12:00am EST for the hours to be accepted. OR an individual should apply to become an ATR-P. The ATCB will allow supervision hours from the date of application submission. 

A completed application must meet the Registration Standards and have the following items submitted and approved:

  • Official Academic Transcript
  • Verification of Post-Education Experience
  • References *(3)

Any ATR application not completed by June 30, 2025, 11:59 p.m. EST will revert to an ATR-P application.

The ATCB assesses the credential and certification programs annually. Any additional changes required as a result of this assessment will be communicated promptly.
