Consideration Before Filing a Formal Appeal

About Administrative Review and Appeals:  Individuals who receive an eligible adverse credentialing or program decision may request reconsideration through ATCB’s Administrative Review process before initiating a formal appeal, when applicable. Administrative Review provides an impartial and timely process for determining whether the original decision was made in accordance with applicable ATCB policies, standards, procedures, and program requirements. If a decision remains eligible for further review following Administrative Review, the individual will be informed of the availability of a formal appeal and the applicable process and deadline. Examination-related matters are subject to the specific submission requirements and timelines identified in the ATCBE® policies. Administrative Reviews are requested via the Contact Form.

ATCBE®s Appeals

In accordance with best practices for the validity of the exam and NCCA accreditation requirements, scores cannot be appealed or changed, but alternatives such as retesting may be allowed.

Credential Renewal & BC Recertification

  • All appeals must be received within 30 days of notification of credential inactive status.
  • The Board of Appeals will not consider appeals that challenge established deadlines and processes clearly outlined in the Registration Standards, Board Certification Standards, and communications such as required dates and processes for maintaining credentials (annual renewal) and board certification (recertification) unless due to circumstances outside of one’s control.
